2 Timothy 3:1-9 * FALSE TEACHERS…

  1. L______ THE WRONG THINGS (vss. 2a, 4b)

  • S______, M________, & P______________

  1. TRY TO IMPRESS OTHERS

  1. HAVE UN__________ CHARACTER (vss. 2b-3)

  1. HAVE SWELLED HEADS (vss. 4,5)

  1. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF W______-WILLED PEOPLE (vss. 6-7)

  1. O__________ THE T________ BUT WON’T GET FAR (vss. 8-9)

ex: Jannes & Jambres (see Exodus 7:10-12)

  1. In contrast, the Lord’s servant:

    • K________ THE L______ DAYS WILL BE DIFFICULT. (vs. 1)

    • A__________ SUCH PEOPLE. (vs. 5b)

2 Timothy 3:1-9 (ESV)

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth. Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men corrupted in mind and disqualified regarding the Faith. But they will not get very far, for their folly will be plain to all, as was that of those two men.

HOW DEEP THE FATHER’S LOVE FOR US

1How deep the Father's love for us
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure
How great the pain of searing loss
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the Chosen One
Bring many sons to glory.

2Behold the man upon the cross
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers
It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished.

3I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection
Why should I gain from His reward
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom.
