Our Core Values
God’s Word.
We learn who God is and who we are in relation to Him through the Scriptures. We believe God is at work through His word, and it powerfully affects every aspect of our lives, effecting radical and positive change. We believe the news of His grace and love for us in Christ Jesus, by the power and ministry of the Holy Spirit, is constantly developing our love for God and for our neighbors, giving us a heart that really trusts Him and genuine care and concern for those we share our lives with each day. Preaching and teaching is very important to us (Isaiah 55.10-11; Romans 1.16-17; Galatians 3.1-6).
Our Worship Service.
Sunday morning is very important to us. Our worship service is intentionally direct and simple, with an emphasis on the grace we receive from God through word and sacrament and our response to His grace. In our worship service God calls us; He instructs us; He moves us. We respond by believing and receiving, expressing ourselves in prayers, praise and song, adoring, trusting and loving the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in each element of our service. (Nehemiah 8.1-12; Acts 2.42-47; Romans 10.17; Revelation 5)
Meaningful Relationships in Christ.
We value the deep and personal relationships we have with one another. We minister to each other, care for each other and provide for each other. We nurture families and strive to develop children in the Faith. We learn together, intentionally meeting during the week to study Scripture; pray with and for one another, encouraging each other in our faith, developing our relationships to be more than Sunday morning acquaintances. (Colossians 3.1-17; Philippians 1.27-2.18; Hebrews 10.23-39)
Discipleship.
We desire to see those without a loving relationship with the Lord come to trust Him and to develop in their faith and love of God for the rest of their lives. We are committed to developing each other in understanding our lives in light of the Gospel and assisting each other to live out the implications of our faith day by day in the circles God has assigned to each of us. (Matthew 28.16-20; 2 Corinthians 5.11-21; Colossians 1.24-2.15)
Mercy Outreach to the Community.
We desire to be agents of kindness and mercy for our neighbors (those near and far away) who face uncertain futures due to the lack of physical necessities. When other means have been exhausted or there is an immediate concern for life and health, we want to be instruments in the Redeemer’s hands aiding in procurement of necessary care, food, clothing and shelter when they are otherwise simply out of reach. (Galatians 5.13-15; Ephesians 2.8-10; 1 Timothy 5.3-16; James 2.14-26)
Broadcasting the Good News of God’s Love in Jesus.
Whether they live next door to us, on the college campus or across the sea, we are committed to aiding in the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We desire to be good stewards of our time, energy and money to serve God’s purpose of penetrating every place where people live with the Gospel of Jesus Christ (Romans 10.5-17)
